ARTHUR N. P. COPEMAN was born at the Glebe, Sydney, on the 5th April, 1852, and educated at St. Andrew s Collegiate School, and the Maitland High School. He was left an orphan at the age of eleven, when engaged by Mr. J. D. Single, on Tellaraga Station, Mochi River. He subsequently engaged with Mr. Baldwin, at Dinerwarindi, Manilla, Mr. T. P. Wills-Allen at Gunnible, Gunnedah, and Mr. A. J. Doyle at Killarney, Narrabri, managing the latter station till 1876. In that year he was offered and accepted the position of Government inspector of stock for the Namoi district, which extends from Boggabri to Brewarrina, and be still holds this office. In 1876 he married a daughter of Mr. P. Quinn, of Glen Quinn, Narrabri, one of the pioneers of the north-western country of New South Wales, and once one of the largest landowners of the Namoi.
