Inquest on the body of Mrs. Neilson held at the Clarence Town Hotel before J.S. Parker, coroner. A man named Patrick Bryan had been discharged from the service of Mr. Arthur Neilson, Mrs. Neilson's husband in consequence of his fighting with another man and that in consequence of Mr. Neilson's striking Bryan while parting the men, Bryan told him 'he would be revenged on him or his if it was for fifty years to come'. Bryan came several times to Mr. Neilson's house but always in his absence and on one or two occasions when Mrs. Neilson was in Clarence town, Bryan was with her and accompanied her homewards.
