Details: The Bank Robbery - Wathen Frederick Joshua Beardmore was indicted for feloniously stealing a sum of money, 527 pounds, the property of John Morrison Saunders at Maitland. The prisoner pleaded guilty. A petition signed by the police magistrate and other magistrates and influential gentlemen of the district as also two from Beardmore s former employers, bearing testimony of his previous good character were presented. When Beardmore was apprehended in Mudgee, there was a sum of money about 125 pounds found in his possession. Beardmore had also when apprehended a horse, saddle and bridle which had been purchased with a portion of the money
