Details: Lucy Scadden charged with a breach of the Masters and Servants Act in inducing her son William Scadden to abscond from his hired service. Frederick Hinds deposed that he hired with the boy for six months at 12s a month; there was a written agreement signed by the defendant; on 16th January defendant came to him and said her son could get more wages and was sorry he had hired with complainant; the next day she came and took him away by force. John Merion deposed to being present when the agreement produced was signed; complainant was to correct the boy and make him mind what was said to him. The defendant said she took away the boy because Mr. Hinds ill used hi. The defendant was fined 5s and court costs
