William Blaney assigned to the A.A. Company. Charge with neglect of work....Overseer William Latham testified....The prisoner s work in the pit is to wheel 32 skips of coal in the day. Yesterday he only wheeled four when he came up from his work he went to Mr. Steele. He told him he was not able to do his work. Mr. Steele told him if he did not do his work, he should got to the watch house. He said he would rather go to the watch house than go to his work as he was not able. The prisoner has often committed the same offence. I heard the conversation between Mr. Steele and the prisoner. Constable William Anthony testified....The prisoner was put into the watch house yesterday on a charge of neglect of work. I was on duty at that time and remained until this morning. He dod not complain of being ill. William Blaney found guilty and sentenced to 50 lashes
