William Hutchinson Bulkeley Jones was awarded his Medical Degree from Glasgow University in 1826. He joined the Navy on 20 October 1837 [1]

Surgeon Superintendent

William Hutchinson Bulkeley Jones was appointed surgeon to H.M.S. Orestes to serve in South America on 6 August 1838. H.M.S. Orestes, sloop, 460 tons, as built at Portsmouth in 1824. 84 officers and men, 24 boys and 20 marines were employed on board. Commander as Peter S. Hambly. John Reid was employed as Assistant Surgeon

William H.B. Jones was employed as Surgeon Superintendent on three convict ships to Australia:

Elphinstone to Van Diemen's Land in 1842

Marion in 1844 also to Van Diemen's Land

Bangalore to Moreton Bay in 1850

Aurora to Van Diemen's Land in 1851


His signature on all four Medical Journals is written in a similar style - W.B. Jones, M.D., Surgeon Superintendent

Death

He died at Prince Town in the County of Devon on 14 April 1860. His Will was proved on the oath of Ann Jones, of Champion grove Camberwell, Co. Surrey, widow and relict.[2]
