Details: The Rev. Joseph Henry Daish was born on December 6th, 1840, at Bartons Road, Newport, I.W. His home was visited by the founders of Primitive Methodism, Hugh Bourne and William Clowes. His father was an ardent local preacher and foreman of the local lace factory, where our deceased brother was employed in his early years. He was soundly converted to God while very young, and at the age of fifteen commenced to preach, mainly in the open air. Owing to the interest displayed in him by Dr. Antliff, and the assistance rendered, he joined the ranks of the ministry. His probation was spent at St. Albans and Sandwich. After a period. spent on the Malden Circuit, he was accepted for missionary work in Australia and laboured on the following stations:- Wingacarribie, Wooloomooloo, Bowral, Parramatta, Newcastle, Newtown, and Sydney
