Within a few feet of each other there stand two plain stone crosses erected by a former council clerk of the city to the memory of his wives. On one of these appears - Sacred to the memory of Ellen wife of John Burrowes, daughter of the REv. W. Simpson, died May 29, 1863, aged 38. The second stone is inscribed to the memory of Ann Maria wife of John Burrowes, daughter of J.B.R. Robertson died July 20 1874
