Details: An inquest was held before Dr. Knaggs, coroner, to ascertain in what manner Melchior Macdonald, a seaman on board the steam tug Tamar met his death. Captain Allan, harbour-master was present to watch the proceedings on the part of the Government; Captain Robinson the manager of the Melbourne Minmi Coal Company attended on behalf of the owners of the steam tug. Witnesses - Francis Smith, master of the steam-tug; John Oldfield, acting mate of the Tamar; John Walker, ordinary seaman on the Tamar; R. R. S. Bowker, medical practitioner. Verdict accidental death
