Details: The Rev. Canon Stack, who had been residing in Balmain for some years, was killed by a coach accident near Willow Tree June 13. In the early days of Maitland (from 1839 to 1855) he, then a young man in the prime of life, was one of its most active and useful inhabitants, and as the train bearing his mortal remains passed slowly through the town the bells of St. Marys and St. Pauls churches rang muffled peals
