Details: ROBERT GEORGE DUNDAS FITZGERALD, J.P., M.P., was born in Auckland, N.Z, his father having come to Australia in 1842 to hold an important position under the New Zealand Government. He was educated at the Sydney Grammar School, having as schoolfellows the Hon Edmund Barton and Mr. Justice Mein, and finished his studies under the Rev. D. Boyd of Muswellbrook. He was articled in 1863 to the late John Ryan Brennan, solicitor of West Maitland, and finished his term with Mr. Mullen of the same town. In 1869 he returned to Muswellbrook, wherein he has since practiced his profession. For nine years Mr. Fitzgerald was an alderman of the borough, and for three years filled the position of mayor. During his term of civic office the town park was laid out and named by Mrs. Fitzgerald. In 1885 he was returned to Parliament for the Upper Hunter, having as his colleague Mr. Hungerford, and in 1887 was returned in company with Mr. McElhone. For many years he has been a member of the local Volunteer Force, and is now captain in the 4th Regiment Volunteer Infantry. A member of the Church of England, Mr. Fitzgerald is married and the father of one daughter

Details: ROBERT FLEMING is a son of Peter Fleming, senr., and was born in Newcastle in 1845. He received his education at Kings School, Parramatta, and for some years assisted his father in business in Newcastle. He has been connected with racing matters in this district for the past twenty years, and is at present in active charge of the Linwood stables, of which he is part owner. These contain some of the best horses in the northern districts. Mr. Fleming is an active member of the N.J. Club, and was starter for five years in connection therewith. He is married, and is the father of three children
