Details: ROBERT STEWART, Australian Inn, who was born in County Derry, Ireland, in 1842, was occupied in farming till nineteen years of age, and then came out to New South Wales and lived in Maitland for three years. In 1870 he removed to Muswellbrook, where he stayed a year cattle dealing, and in 1868 came to Aberdeen and commenced a butchering business, which he carried on for five years, after which he went to Queensland with a mob of horses. In 1874 he visited the Denison diggings, but returned to Aberdeen in 1875 and re-commenced cattle dealing. In 1878 Mr. Stewart leased his present house, which is the only family hotel in the district ; whilst carrying it on he is also occupied in grazing and cattle dealing. He takes an active part in all matters affecting the welfare of the district, and is a member of the Presbyterian Church. He married the daughter of Alex. McDonald, of Segenhoe, by whom he has four sons and one daughter.
