Company testified....Last Wednesday night I baked two cakes, one of the cakes we had for supper and the other was put by . In the morning when I arose it was gone. I had nothing to eat before I went down the pit. I found the cake in the prisoners berth. Robert Nightingale assigned to the A.A. Company testified....that the prisoner told him that he had baked the bread. Nightingale was cook and did not see Brown baking the bread. Zachariah Meredith testified....Last Wednesday I was in the hut when the prisoner came into the hut. He asked me if I was asleep. I told him no he took a panickan and drank out of it. I did not see him bake any cakes. Prisoner remanded

He bought a cockatoo on board for sale which I purchased. As soon as the bird was at liberty it flew away, I saw it light at Mr. Elliotts house. I went thither and claimed it. Mrs. Elliott said it was her property......Mary Elliott states - I missed my cockatoo this morning early. A little after nine oclock it flew home and immediately after a mate of the ship came and demanded it as his property. Prisoner denies having sold the bird. Robert Nixon sentenced to 50 lashes
