Details: Robert Newman per Guildford, in the service of James McGillivray, charged with absconding from his master s service at Wallis Plains and proceeding overland to Sydney from whence he was sent by the principal overseer of convicts to be dealt with accordingly. The prisoner states his reason for running from his master s service was that he did not like the situation and that he wanted to get to Sydney. Robert Newman sentenced to 50 lashes.
