Details: ROBERT JAMES LUSCOMBE, Chemist and Druggist, was born in Exeter, England, in 1828, received there his education, and learned his profession at Dartmouth. He made some voyages to sea, came to New South Wales in 1845, and was employed for over eleven years by Mr. Lipscomb, of West Maitland. In 1857 he married the eldest daughter of C. D. Street, surgeon, of Raymond Terrace, and then removed to Muswellbrook, where he opened a pharmacy. He has been thirty years in business in Muswellbrook, and during that period has three times removed to larger premises. He is now retired from his business, which is carried on by his brother-in-law, Mr. A. G. Street. Mr. Luscombe has always taken an active interest in all matters affecting the welfare of the district and was for five years an alderman of the municipality. He is the father of five sons and four daughters. His eldest son-the Rev. P. S. Luscombe-is the Episcopalian minister of Wollombi; his second son being J. C. Luscombe, the architect, in Sydney. Mr. Luscombe has for twenty-five years been churchwarden of St. Albans, Muswellbrook
