Details: COMPLETION OF THE VIADUCT OPPOSITE BULLOCK ISLAND We have much pleasure in announcing the completion of the really stupendous structure, and in congratulating those employed on the work upon the highly successful result of their labours which were carried on with equal skill and rapidity, occupying only sixteen weeks in the construction from the commencement of operation to diving the last pile on the 8th March, under the superintendence of Messrs. Robert James and Joseph Whitworth. In the evening about 50 of the workmen were entertained by James Bryson, the engineer, at an excellent supper, provided for the occasion by Mr. Hewson, at the Union Inn. The usual loyal toasts were given, followed by the healths of Mr. Wright, the contractor, and of Mr. Bryson, who, in returning thanks, hoped that it would not be the last time they would meet on such an occasion. Many jovial songs were then sung, and the party separated at 11 p.m., expressing themselves highly delighted with the entertainment and each other. We have much pleasure also in announcing that the beautiful locomotive which arrived in the colony by the Anglia, is now regularly at work conveying ballast between the Sand-hill and Groves Paddock
