Details: ALEXANDER BRODIE was born in Banff shire, Scotland, in 1811, and was educated and resided there till 1832. In that year he went to Montreal, Canada, where he was in the employ of James Conell and Co. for six years, at the end of which time-1838-he returned, to Scotland. In 1839 he came to Australia, and joined his brother Peter, who was settled in Murrurundi, and with whom be remained three years. He then undertook the management of the Wallabadah Station, which position he held till 1851. In that year lie started in business for himself as a general storekeeper, and opened a branch twelve months later at the Hanging Rock rush. He followed this business till 1878, when he settled down on his estate at Rocky Vale. Mr. Brodie is married, and has a family of three sons and two daughters
