Details: WILLIAM WOODWARD, Shipbuilder, is the son of an old colonist who was born as far back as 1806 in Parramatta, and for many years carried on the industries of farming and boatbuilding at Kincumber. The subject of this sketch was born in 1849 at Brisbane Water, and under the supervision of Berry Davis-with whom he remained for seven years gained a knowledge of boat and ship building. In 1874 he opened a yard on his own account, and in 1883 extended his facilities for building by purchasing land at Green Point, East Gosford. Here he established his shipbuilding yard, and erected a homestead. For the perfect construction of sailing and rowing boats, coasting vessels, and small steamers it would be hard to find a better establishment than that of Mr. Woodward. As a genuine type of an Australian Mr. Woodward may be reckoned an example. A keen sportsman, he is a member of the local regatta committee, and has won a fair reputation among the nimble craftsmen of Gosford waters. In 1873 he married the daughter of Mr. Melville, of Parramatta, and has two sons and three daughters
