Details: RICHARD BOURNE, General Storekeeper, was born at Seaham, in this colony, in 1843, but his parents removing to Port Stephens during his infancy he was there brought up, and afterwards entered the service of the A.A. Company, and learned the business of a general storekeeper. He remained in this employ for about six years, leaving it to enter the service of Mr. Asser, storekeeper, of Scone, after which he filled a similar position in Murrurundi for about fifteen years. In 1878 Mr. Bourne commenced business on his own account in West Tamworth, and has, by industry and business ability, been deservedly successful. He has now one of the most extensive connections in West Tamworth and the surrounding districts, and had, in consequence of his ever-increasing trade, to remove to more extensive premises. Mr. Bourne has always taken an active Dart in all local matters and sat as alderman from 1884 till 1887. He is a member of the New South Wales constitution of Freemasons, also L.O.L. and B.P. He has been through the various chairs in the Hunter River district of the M.U.I.O.O.F. Mr. Bourne married in 1876 the daughter of Mr. James Jackson, of Murrurundi, and has three sons and two daughters; is a member and churchwarden of St. Pauls, C.E., West Tamworth, and is highly respected throughout the district as a business man and private citizen, and as a thorough specimen of our native Australian colonist.
