Details: On Tuesday afternoon- an inquest was begun upon the body of an aboriginal named Jacky Price. It appeared that the man had, whilst under the influence of drink, the night before fallen into the water at the wharf at the foot of Bolton-street. He was rescued promptly, and in about a quarter of an hour by the use of proper means, began to show signs of life Soon after that he recovered more fully, and began to curse and swear He was token by the police and put in a cell in the lockup with another man but in the morning he was found to be dead

Details: GEORGE PRIDDLE, Junction Inn, William-street, was born at Raymond Terrace in 1854, and after leaving school entered into farming pursuits until 1884, when he purchased his present business. He is well known in sporting and athletic circles as an oarsman of some rank, having finished second to Reynolds for the All-corners Skiff Race at Sydney in 1881, beating Solomons, Edwards, Pierce, and other good men. Ile beat Foot in a match for X50 a-side on the Hunter and won other important races. The Junction Inn is delightfully situated on the banks of the Hunter, immediately beside the steam punt, and within one minutes walk of the steamers wharf and of the post-office. Altogether it is the most conveniently situated house in the town. A large stone structure built about forty-five years ago, it is two stories high, fronts the river, and contains public and private dining-rooms, sitting-rooms, bagatelle-room, bar, a dozen spacious bedrooms, and private drawing-room, and a balcony all along the front and end facing William-street. It possesses in the rear large and commodious stabling, etc. The situation, combined with the high reputation of the town as a sanitorium, makes it a most popular house for people requiring a change from either city or country
