Details: John Perry, in the employ of the Waratah Railway Company whose appearance betokened nothing of the ruffian, surrendered to his bail for having committed a violent assault on Louisa Wilmot. The case had been adjourned twice to allow the woman to recover. - Louisa Wilmot, a young and rather interesting looking girl who was accommodated with a chair while giving her evidence. She had gone to the house of the defendant and asked whether he intended to perform his promise and marry her as she was pregnant by him. After this he assaulted her by kicking her in the right side and throwing her on the floor before jumping on her stomach twice. He they beat here around the arms and shoulders with a stick. He assaulted her again the following day. Parrey was remanded again and bail extended

Details: John Perry again appeared for having committed a violent assault on Louisa Wilmot. Witnesses Janet Sellwood, neighbour; William Johnstone, mate of the defendant; George Griffin, who stated that he had known both parties before the Court ever since they were children and had seen them frequently together. He heard Louisa Wilmot say - That if she did not have defendant for her husband, no one else should for she would either hang or transport him - This occurred at the Junction Hotel in front of a number of people. The Bench sentenced the prisoner to be imprisoned in Maitland gaol for three months.

Details: John Perry was brought before the bench, charged with committing aggravated assault upon Louise Wilmott at Waratah. Senior Sergeant Thomas Thompson stated, acting on information he received, that a girl had been dangerously beaten at Waratah, he went there and saw a female lying on a bed who told him she had been beaten by a man named John Perry. She exhibited several black marks on her arm and otherwise appeared to be suffering so much that on returning to town he thought it advisable to wait on Dr. Bowker. Saw the girl again yesterday, when she stated that she felt worse than on Saturday, on hearing which he proceeded to the prisoners mothers house and arrested. On acquainting him with the nature of the charge he said he knew nothing about it. The prisoner was remanded for a week, bail was allowed
