Details: W. HOTSPUR PERCY, Royal Hotel, was born in London on the Ist March, 1825, and is descended from the celebrated Percy family of Northumberland. He arrived in the colonies in 1852, and settled in Melbourne, where he carried on business as a tailor for twenty years in Elizabeth-street. In 1873 he removed to Sydney, and lived for a time in Muswellbrook, carrying on a hotel as well as following his trade. In 1884 he removed to Singleton, and in 188 7 leased the well-known Royal Hotel, which is the leading house of the place. This hotel is under the management of Mrs. Percy, who was the first white girl born in the Upper Hunter district. It contains about thirty rooms, and is very complete, having one of the finest billiard rooms, sample rooms, and every modern convenience for the carrying on of a first-class trade. Mr. Percy is the father of one daughter, and is widely known and respected in the Upper Hunter district. He carries on his business as a tailor in William-street, and does a first-class trade
