Details: CHARLES EDWIN NORRIE, Solicitor, was born in 1857 at West Maitland, and educated at the Nest Maitland Grammar School, and subsequently under Dr. Sly, of Redfern. In 1875 he was articled to Mr. R. W. Thompson, West Maitland, and in 1880 was admitted to practice as a solicitor. In 1883 Mr. Norrie was elected an alderman, which honour was again accorded him in 1886. Ile is treasurer of the municipality and held the position of hon. treasurer of the West Maitland school-of-arts for five years. He is trustee of the Government Savings Bank, and takes great interest in politics as a free trader. The possessor of an excellent legal practice in Maitland, Mr. Norrie is generally looked upon as a stirling citizen and a sound lawyer
