Details: GEORGE WATT MURRAY, Boot Warehouseman, Port Stephen-street, was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1831, and arrived in the colony and came to Raymond Terrace in 1850. For a year he worked at the boot trade, spent a few months on the Victorian goldfields, went to the Clarence, and was employed for it short time farming. He returned to Raymond Terrace, where, after working for a time as journeyman, he commenced in 1865 as a bootmaker, and fifteen years later added to that the sale of imported and colonial boots. In 1887 he built the handsome and commodious premises at present occupied by him. For eighteen years our subject has been a son of temperance, and for twelve years treasurer of the local division. He was one of the first promoters of the local Improvement Society, which developed into the school-of-arts, and is acting trustee of the Wesleyan Church. He has been twice married-in 1864 and 1878-and is the father of twelve children living
