Details: 102. George Kinsela in the service of government, charged with stealing from a fellow prisoner. James Murphy belonging to the road gang, states, I live in a hut with Kinsela, Curtis and another. This morning I missed my shirt from under my head. I spoke of it to my comrades and said someone of them had taken it. Shortly after Kinsela came and bid me he had found it and showed me where it was. Nicholas Curtis states...Kinsela took the shirt from under Murphys head this morning whilst he slept. When Murphy missed it I advised Kinsela to go after it all we should all get into trouble. Kinsela accordingly went a short time after and showed where it was hidden. Kinsela denies having stolen the shirt and states that he found it in a hole and that he covered it over with rubbish until some one appeared to claim it and that he showed the place to Murphy. Also states that his comrades have a spite against him and that is the reason for them bringing the present accusation. George Kinsela sentenced to 50 lashes
