Details: John Jones assigned to Duncan Sinclair. Hugh Conlan (overseer on Mr. Sinclairs Farm) states - My master has been absent some time at Sydney, Jones has broken open a chest and stole some of his clothes; I found them on him; Jones has also absented himself from the farm without leave. It is very neglectful of his work also. Jones denies the charges and states that Conlan has advised him to abscond but that he did not mean to follow his advice. Sentenced to 50 lashes and hard labour in the mines for 3 months.
