Details: JOHN F. MAGUIRE Tailoring and Mercery Establishment. Mr. Maguire was born in Singleton in 1860, and received his education and learned his trade in his native town. When twenty years of age he went to Sydney, where for two years he studied the art of cutting under an able teacher, and then returned to assist his father in the conduct of his business in Singleton ; but his father dying shortly after his return, the whole management of the business devolved upon our subject. The business is the oldest-established in its line in the district, it having existed since 1857. It has a large connection among surrounding farmers and settlers, and reaches as far as Tenterfield and Glen Inner, giving employment to nine hands. Mr. Maguire owns the property it occupies. Our subject is well known and respected as an enterprising and upright young citizen. Ile occupies the honorable position of bursar of the R.C. Guild, which was previously filled for many years by his late father. He is a widower, and the father of one son
