Details: GEORGE THOMAS LODER, J.P., was born in 1823 at Portland Head, Hawkesbury River, a few miles below Windsor, N.S.W., and is the son of George Loder, who was born in Sydney in 1796, and Mary Howe, his wife. He is a grandson of George Loder-a soldier in the 102nd Regiment, or New South Wales Corps, which arrived in Sydney on 26th January, 1788-and his wife. He was educated by the Rev. John Hall of Blacktown, and the Rev. Henry Carmichael, M.A., of the Normal Institution, Elizabeth-street, Sydney, and visited the Hunter River in 1841. He afterwards proceeded to Liverpool Plains to assist in the management of the family stations, and returned to live on his own farm near Singleton in 1851. Mr. Loder was one of the founders of the National, afterwards a public school, in Singleton in 1853, and was one of the board connected with that institution until 1880. Gazetted a local trustee of the Singleton branch of the Government Savings Bank in 1854, he was appointed a magistrate of the colony in 1858. He is a member of the Licensing Court and the Land Board of the district. He was elected captain of the Singleton Corps Volunteer Rifles, 4th Company, 4th Regiment, in 1869, which latter position he filled for eleven years, retiring on his rank when the company was broken up. Mr. Loder joined the Singleton Lodge of Fidelity, M.U.I.O.O.F., in 1854, and filled every office in connection therewith, as also the provincial grand masters chair of the Hunter River District, and the grand masters chair of the order in New South Wales. He is a member of the Masonic body, having joined Lodge St. John, Singleton, E.C. No. 1038, in 1865, and is a past master of Lodge United St. Andrew, No. 502 S.C., Singleton. Mr. Loder is an old member of the Hunter River A. and H. Association, and hon. secretary of the Northern A. Association, with which he has been connected twenty years. Mr.-Loder is a farmer and grazier near Singleton
