Details: Daniel Leary in the service of Robert Coram Dillon charged with absenting himself from his masters farm without leave. R.C. Dillin states....I received information from my overseer that the prisoner had absented himself from the farm without his sanction. He came to me and told me he had come to Newcastle for medical assistance. I sent him to the hospital and was informed from thence that nothing ailed him. I then ordered him to return to my farm instead of which he secreted himself in a house in the town and I was obliged to call the chief constable. Sentence: 50 lashes
