Details: HENRY NEVILLE KIRKWOOD, Farmer, and Alderman of South Singleton, was born in County Derry, Ireland, in 1832, came to the colony in 1853, and settled in West Maitland, where he was engaged at brickmaking for about ten years. At the end of this time he removed to Singleton, where he has since resided. In 1877 he rented his present farm from Mr. Loder, and now carries on a dairy farm in conjunction with the production of hay, corn, potatoes, etc. In 1887 Mr. Kirkwood was appointed by the Governor in Council an alderman of South Singleton. He has been connected with all movements advocated for the good of the district, is a member of the Farmers Union, and an ardent free-trader. He is foreman of the committee of the L.O.L., and always takes an active part in the cause of Orangeism ; farms about 100 acres, and has about forty head of stock. He is a member of the Church of England, and has a family of five sons and seven daughters
