Ship: -

Place: Namoi River
Source: The Colonist
Details: Lieutenant Lowe, surprised in his hut by the rush of waters, took refuge in a tree, little imagining how long he was condemned to remain there, or what would be his fate. The men on the station, who had taken refuge on the higher grounds, had no doubt of his having pursued this plan, and constructed a raft with which they discovered his hiding place, after five days search, and arrived alongside the tree. They found Lieutenant Lowe in extreme exhaustion, and he only lived long enough to be laid on the raft, which had arrived too late to prolong his existence. Mr. Irving, brother in law to Mr. Lowe, has also perished with a flock of ten thousand sheep, belonging to him and Mr. Lowe.
