Became gold miner; soon acquired interest in various mines including Hill End mine; proprietor of paper co. at Liverpool; bankrupt 1875, discharged 1876. Bought Burrum coal mines, nr Maryborough, Qld, 1878; went to Maryborough; visited Eng. 1881; returned Qld; insolvent 1884. Returned NSW; failed as sawmiller and mining speculator; insolvent 1886, discharged Oct. 1887.
