Details: J. B. BARCLAY, Wickham Foundry and Engineering Works, &c., was born in Scotland in 1853, learned his business in Greenock, and came , out to Queensland in 1875. He had charge of the Victoria Foundry, Port Mackay, for eighteen months, and then removed to Brisbane and was foreman of the City Foundry for two years. At the end of this time be went to Sydney and worked for three years at Mort s Dock. In 1882 he entered the service of Morison and Bearby at Newcastle, where he worked for one and a half years, and then went to Minmi to take charge of J. A. Brown s foundry. He continued there for between two and three years, and in 1886 opened his present foundry and engineering works at Wickham, which he intends shortly to enlarge, as the present premises are too small to meet all requirements of his fast increasing business ; although be has at present all the facilities for doing first-class work in iron and brass founding . He is now at work on a contract for the Deaf and Dumb Institute at Waratah, and on a new air shaft for the Maryville Colliery Company. He has several other contracts in band, and usually employs from twenty to thirty hands. He is a member of the I.O.O.F., is married, his four children, and is an adherent of the Presbyterian Church
