Details: Peter HIndmarsh indicted for having stolen one cow, one heifer and one calf the property of Richard Carter of Singleton. After five minutes the jury returned a verdict of guilty. His Honor addressing the prisoner said he would save him from a career of bushranging at all events, for as many years as possible by passing the severest sentence the law would allow. Meantime he would make enquiries as to his antecedents. He might say that the believed him to be as bad a young man as he had ever had before him. Sentence deferred
