              Details: John Davis a prisoner of the Crown per Sir William Bensley, charged with a robbery in the house of Patrick Reilly at Newcastle on Wednesday 8th February 1826...Constable William Turvey deposed - on Wednesday afternoon as I went my rounds, It met Davis coming out of Mr. Reillys yard I saw something bulky in his possession and I stopped him and found the linen now produced ( a tablecloth, two sheets) At the same moment Mrs. Reilly came towards me exclaiming she was robbed. I showed her what I had taken from Davis which she identified as her property. Catherine Riley deposed - I missed some articles of linen from my house. I had seen them only a few minutes before I ran out exclaiming I had been robbed. I met Turvey with some linen. I examined it. It is my property. The prisoner makes no defence but throws himself on the mercy of the court. John Davis sentenced to 3 years to a penal settlement
