After spending two years at sea he settled in Newcastle district, and at the age of sixteen married a native of the Hunter. He spent two years driving a horse team, and seven years as a stevedore, when he then leased the Albion Hotel, Watt-street, which he kept for eight years. This he gave up to devote his time to the livery business. In 18S5 he again entered into hotel-keeping, and is now landlord of the Belle Vue, where he still keeps a number of cabs and buggies and does the largest cab business in the city. His hotel contains ten rooms, and its trade is principally confined to the bar, all available accommodation in the house being taken up by boarders. Mr. Scott is the father of five sons and three daughters. He is a member of the A.O.D., and is widely known and respected
