Details: Whilst lying In the Bay of Islands on the afternoon of the 2nd September, the engineer of the Juno, Thomas Atherton, accompanied by his assistant, James Cottham, James Anderson, fireman ; George Church, (the Whis perer), and A. Peckham, passengers, left the vessel in a shore boat, and proceeded to Koroariki, and remained on shore till dusk, when they left again for the steamer. The next morning, however, the boat was found capsized, and subsequently the oars, two caps, and two half-emptied bottles of spirits were found on the shore. A strict search was then made for the unfortunate men, but nothing was discovered of them until the 10th instant, when the bodies of Atherton and Peckman, washed on shore, were picked up by the natives, and interred the same day at Kororarika
