Details: HENRY ASSER, Bookseller and Stationer, Hunter-street, was born in London in 1829, and received his education and the training of a copper and steel plate printer in his native city. For a few years he followed his trade in London, and in 1859 came out to New South Wales and joined his brother at Scone. He spent four years at the general storekeeping business at Blandford, where he also acted as postmaster. In 1865 he went to Haydonton, and in 1871 settled in Newcastle, where he for five years conducted a private boarding establishment. He then opened his present business of bookseller and newsagent. He is a member of the Church of England, and in 1866 married the second daughter of Mr. George Lewis, of Muswellbrook

Details: N. F. ASSER, Merchant, was born in 1825 at Burlington Arcade, London, and followed mercantile pursuits there till 1843, when he came to -New South Wales. He settled in Scone in 1845, and in 1855 commenced his present business, the oldest general store in Scone. In 1856 dlr. Asser married the eldest daughter of the late Mr. Alexander Johnston of Scone, and is the father of three sons and six daughters. He takes an active part in all matters affecting the progress of the district, and is one of the most respected residents in Scone. He is warmly in favour of its incorporation as a municipality, and was one of the first to aid in the establishment of the local school-of-arts, of which he has for several years acted as one of the vice-presidents. For many years Mr. Asser filled the position of churchwarden of St. Lukes, Scone.
