Details: JAMES JOSEPH CONROY, Grazier, was born in Queen s County, Ireland, in 1838, and two years later came with his parents to New South Wales. Landing in Sydney, the family first settled in Breeza, Mr. Conroy, senr., in 1846 opening a public house and store in that town, which he carried on until 1862. Mr. Conroy, junr., spent about seven years at gold mining, and in 1862 opened a hotel in Breeza, which he conducted for about eighteen months, relinquishing it to select land at Yarraminbar, on the Liverpool Plains. Here he followed grazing for about seven years. At the end of that time he sold out and selected land near Gunnedah, where he remained seven years, removing thence to Cox s Creek, near Boggabri, and in 1882 finally settling in the Gwydir district. Purchasing a property from Mr. Jurd at Keytah, he engaged in grazing pursuits, which he has since carried on. Mr. Conroy was married in 1862, and has a family of six sons and five daughters.
