Edward Nolloth was born 22 March 1814, the sixth son of John Nolloth of the Portsmouth Dockyard.

Edward Nolloth was appointed staff surgeon in the Royal Navy 18 August 1835 . He was appointed Surgeon 14 January 1845 .
He was the first to be appointed on the staff of the Royal Naval Hospital, Malta.
Edward Nolloth was employed as Surgeon Superintendent on the convict ships Maria in 1849 (to VDL), the Hempsyke to Gibraltar in 1851 and the Fairlie in 1852 (to VDL).
He was surgeon on the Hercules bringing emigrants from Scotland in 1853.
He served as surgeon on HMS Victor Emmanuel, carrying eighty guns, during the whole period of the Russian War, and was awarded the Crimean and Turkish Medals and Sebastopol Clasp, 5th class Medjidie. 
After having lived in retirement for many years with the rank of Fleet Surgeon, he died at his residence in Camberwell on April 29th, 1887.
