Edward Jeffery was appointed Assistant Surgeon to the Havannah in 1811 [1].

He was appointed Surgeon, Royal Navy 8 July 1825.

Surgeon-Superintendent

Edward Jeffery was employed as Surgeon Superintendent on three convict ship voyages to Australia:

1). Recovery to Van Diemen's Land in 1837. The Recovery departed the Downs 1 June 1837 and arrived in Van Diemen's Land 8 October 1837

2). Marquis of Hastings to Van Diemen's Land in 1839. The Marquis of Hastings departed Portsmouth 17 March 1839 and arrived Van Diemen's Land 23 July 1839. Edward Jeffery kept a medical Journal from19th February 1839 to 30 July 1839.

3). David Clark to Van Diemen's Land in 1841. The David Clark departed Plymouth 7 June 1841 and arrived in Van Diemen's Land 4 October 1841.

1859

Edward Jeffery was on the List of Navy Surgeons unfit for duty in 1859 [3]

Death

He died on 20 February 1866 at Sandwich, County Kent.[2]
