Details: A bridegroom of 1856 signed the St. Pauls register at Paterson in a peculiar fashion - a series of perpendicular strokes with a sweeping flourish running through all. It was recognised as the signature of William John Dangar of Singleton who married Miss Marion Foster Phelps of Paterson

Damages were laid at 200 pounds. The defendant (Dangar) had paid 30 into court already.......Damages awarded to the plaintiff (Hobbs)
