An old building in High St. West Maitland occupied (in1906) by Mr. Dransfield, seedsman was sold early in July 1906. It was one of the oldest buildings in Maitland being remembered by Major Sloan as being occupied by a shoemaker named Belcher as far back as 1842, while Mr. William Tierney remembers it being in the occupation of Mrs. Collins as a fruit shop in the 1850's. The oldest houses in Maitland were said to be the two brick cottages between the corner of Abbott Street and the Currency Lass Hotel which were erected in 1839
