Recollections of Joseph Docker - I well remember Rev. John Morse as a portly fine looking elderly man. After the morning service we used to stay to dinner at the Parsonage before returning to Thornthwaite. I can picture Mr. Morse in his white surplice reading the service and retiring to the vestry and re appearing in a black gown to preach his sermon. The musical instrument was a seraphine. It was played by one of Mr. Morses daughters who afterwards became Mrs. Coles Child, the later incumbent. Mr. Morse had two sons George and Henry who had station properties in the New England district, and three daughters. The eldest married Mr. Tourle and the youngest, Elizabeth, became Mrs. Barlow.
