Details: We have the melancholy task of announcing the death of James Ward Martindale, Esq. Surgeon of H. M. 17th Regt, who expired on Wednesday last. He was in perfect health the preceding day, and while at the dinner table with Mrs. M. and some friends, was suddenly taken ill with a cramp in his lower extremities, which gradually proceeded toward the vital organ, and finally terminated his existence. The deceased gentleman was highly respected by his regiment, for his urbane and gentlemanly manners. The case of his widow demands the wannest sympathies of her friends ; she had been married only a few months, and is left in an advanced state of pregnancy. His remains were followed to the grave yesterday by his corps, and Colonel's Lindesay, Despard, and Shadforth, together with the other officers of the garrison, and several private gentlemen, all anxious to manifest a last tribute to departed worth. The usual military honours were observed on the melancholy occasion.
