Details: The Caribou has made a good passage from Liverpool of eighty- seven days. She sailed on the 9th July, crossed the equator on 3rd August, and rounded the Cape of Good Hope on the 29th same month. Experienced very bad south-east trades, by which she was driven to within six miles of Peruambuco. She brings out 387 emigrants, principally from the Donegal Relief Fund. They are classified as follows :-46 married couples, 130 single men, 121 single women, and 45 children, and appear in excellent health. The casualties have been three deaths (one an adult) and five births. Also the loss of one of the seamen, named David Anderson who fell from the head on the 8th July, off Holyhead, and was drowned, although a lifeboat was lowered in two-and-a-half minutes after the accident
